Nerdery increasing focus and investing in areas of growth

Statement from Adrian Slobin, Nerdery CEO:

While the overall health of our business is strong, we are cutting costs in order to make strategic investments elsewhere. Nerdery today eliminated 32 positions, including the closure of our Kansas City office. We’ve asked a portion of the impacted employees in Kansas City to remain with the company as part of our work-from-home team. All departing employees will receive severance packages and placement assistance.

These decisions were not made lightly, and were made after careful review of the business to ensure that we are able to free up resources to bolster our ability to focus on the people, systems and opportunities that will strengthen our position for the future. Over the past year, Nerdery has focused on evolving toward a strategic digital business consultancy and away from more transactional engagements. This evolution has involved us making crucial decisions to ensure that we’re staying focused on achieving our objective by investing in areas of growth, including bringing in top talent and introducing new service offerings.

Coming off another profitable year, we make these moves from a place of strength and choice. Looking ahead, Nerdery will be adding talent in the areas of data science, cloud, systems architecture, platform modernization, experience design, and more — including three C-level positions: Chief Technology Officer, Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer. While it is hard to say goodbye to our colleagues, I am confident that these changes will strengthen our focus and improve our growth potential for the future — which will ultimately lead to new clients and new opportunities.
